The market is crowded and the demos all look alike. These ten questions cut through: 1) Is the agent trained on my actual content or a generic script? 2) What does it do when it doesn't know — invent, or honestly take details? 3) Can it book real appointments with confirmations? 4) Can a human join the same conversation live?
5) Which languages, and is it automatic? 6) Where is my data stored and is it used to train public models? 7) Can I export my leads and conversations? 8) Who updates the agent when my prices change, and how fast? 9) What are the real monthly costs at my volume? 10) Can I try it on my own website before paying?
Serious providers answer all ten in plain language, usually with a demo. Evasion on data questions or the honesty question is disqualifying — an agent that invents answers is a liability wearing a widget.
One more tell: providers who talk about your business problem before their technology are the ones who'll still answer your emails in month six.
